Taz never thought she’d be so happy when she retired. True, she missed the steady warmth of her homeland, and her Captaincy. At the same time, she had her husband, and her children, and the ice all around her was an endless source of wonder.
As much as she missed her roving adventures, that kind of life could never last forever. She was happy here, loving her husband, guarding the border, already embellishing her adventures in all the right places for when she told her children stories…
It wasn’t what she’d expected, but she didn’t regret her choice at all.
