"It's been almost two years since he left."

"I keep telling you, Nolani. I can't tell you when he'll be coming home."

"But he will be coming home, right?"

"Kira? He will. He has to. Right?"

"You have to give me something. Please."

"I could tell you what he'll be doing tomorrow, but you won't like it."

"I don't care."

"I could tell you what he'll be doing next week, but it might change."

"He's still alive, right?"

"He will be tomorrow."

"What about after?"

"Ask me tomorrow, and I'll be able to tell you. It all keeps changing with him."

"You've told me things about Lonura farther out."

"It isn't as simple as you want it to be. Some futures are straight and steady, as fixed as the sunrise. Sometimes they're all twisted, like a tangled necklace."

"And Isshiri is a tangled necklace?"

"For now."

"Have you seen him dying?"

"That's always changed before it's happened."

"Oh my gods."

"What I see is what's most likely right now. That doesn't mean it's guaranteed to happen."

"If you see him die, you'll tell me, right?"
